ITANAGAR, Nov 26: In a display of remarkable skill and talent, athletes from Arunachal Pradesh made their mark at the recently concluded 11th Sub Juniors and Juniors All Indian National Pencak Silat Championship held in Patna, Bihar from November 23 to 26 .
Under the banner of Arunachal Pradesh Pencak Silat Association (APPSA), the state's emerging talents clinched an impressive tally of 10 medals, including 3 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze. The gold medals were secured by Goter Karlo, Masa Kamchi, and Sangjo Lingfa, while Sartam Tara, Lucky Tungi, and Tero Singhi claimed silver honors. Bronze medals were earned by Meta Pao, Yago Tajo, Kipa Kamta, and Meko Liyak, solidifying Arunachal's success in the championship.
APPSA's pivotal role in nurturing and guiding these athletes played a crucial part in their remarkable achievements on the national stage.
Expressing gratitude, the Arunachal contingent and APPSA thanked the championship organizers for providing a valuable platform for athletes to showcase their skills.
In a statement released on Sunday, the association acknowledged the organizers' commitment to promoting sports and fostering healthy competition, underscoring the positive impact of such initiatives on the overall development of sports in the region.
Pencak Silat, a distinctive sport in the realm of Indonesian martial arts, includes various categories such as Tanding (Fight), Tungal (Single), Regu (Group), Ganda (Demi Fight), and Solo events. Beyond national competitions, Pencak Silat extends to prestigious international platforms such as the Asian Games, Asian Martial Arts Games, Youth Games, Asian Beach Games, Indian University Games, and national games,stated a release.
