Guwahati, Sep 23: The first ever 10-day AI Boot Camp and Hackathon of Arunachal AI Centre of Excellence (AI-CoE) at IIT Guwahati, began today. The event was marked open by Director IIT Guwahati in presence of representatives of NIT Itanagar and SCITeG, Dept of IT & Communication, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The AI Boot Camp and Hackathon is being organised as part of the initiatives of the Arunachal Pradesh Centre of Excellence on Artificial Intelligence (AI-CoE), an IndiaAIMeitY initiative, under State Council of IT and eGovernance, Department of IT and Communication, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh in collaboration with IIT Guwahati and NIT Arunachal Pradesh at IIT Guwahati. A total of 40 candidates, selected from among 97 applications received, will undergo the 10-day Boot Camp and Hackathon at IIT Guwahati.
The objective is to promote AI awareness, capacity building and innovation among the college students, youths, AI enthusiasts of the State. The Boot Camp (September 23-October 1) will provide participants with hands-on exposure to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Python programming and Natural Language Processing, supported by expert-led sessions, practical exercises and mentoring.
The Hackathon (October 2-3)will provide an opportunity for participants to apply their learning and develop innovative, use-case-oriented AI solutions to real-world challenges. Participants will be evaluated based on their technical skills, understanding of AI/ML, innovation, problem-solving ability and practical application of their solutions.
The Director, IIT Guwahati, appreciated the initiative of the State Government and encouraged the trainees to make the most of the Boot Camp and Hackathon. He also advised the participants to approach the programme with enthusiasm and a strong zeal to learn. He further appreciated the efforts of the Hon’ble Chief Secretary and the Secretary, IT & Communication, Government of Arunachal Pradesh and Director NIT Arunachal Pradesh in making the programme possible within such a short span of time.
The 10-day AI Boot Camp and Hackathon marks a significant milestone in the State’s journey towards building a strong and inclusive AI ecosystem. The programme is an important step towards nurturing young talent, strengthening AI capabilities, fostering innovation, and developing a skilled digital workforce equipped to contribute to the State’s emerging technology landscape. It also lays a strong foundation for sustained capacity building and the adoption of AI-driven solutions for the development of Arunachal Pradesh.
