   YINGKIONG, Apr 17: Indian Army in Arunachal Pradesh with the prime task of defending the borders is also making special effort to improve the life standards of the people in the area where it operates. In the line of similar efforts 3 Mahar Regiment under Siang Brigade carried out three projects to show solidarity with local population.

  In the first project, Army distributed furniture, office equipment and computers to government school Mariyang, in Upper Siang district to facilitate quality education to the students at the remote location. The items were distributed in small ceremony organized at government school Damro recently in the presence of ADC Mariyang Ranpok Perme. During the event a small seminar on “Know your Army” was also conducted to increase the awareness amongst the students about how to join the army.

In another project Army constructed two toilet blocks at Janbo village in Upper Siang district.

A waiting shed at Gelling village which is the last Indian village in the Siang river valley was also constructed.
