Jairampur, Mar 3: Driven by the desire to have a taste of army life and serve the nation in uniform, over 1500 candidates from all across the state today lined up for the Army Recruitment Rally since wee hours, braving the rainy weather, here at Army Cantonment in Changlang district.
This is the second rally being conducted in the insurgency inflicted part of the state.
“The overwhelming response affirmed that the youths of this part of the hilly state are eager to enter the mainstream and serve the nation”, an official from ARO Jorhat commented.
“We failed in our attempt in running which was of 1600-mtr distance and although we have disqualified this time, we will try for another rally,” many of the disqualified candidates on condition of anonymity said in unison.
Another euphoric candidate who was selected, said it was his third attempt and sounded optimistic to clear the remaining steps.
Dir Rtg (NE states) Col JV Singh & Director Recruiting in charge of recruitment in Arunachal Pradesh Colonel Maqsood Ali Khan both acknowledged the support and efforts from Army Unit 3 Assam Regiment and Changlang District Administration. The rally was flagged off by Commander Lekhapani Military Station Brigadier Deepak Gaur & Col JV Singh.
The rally is being organized under the aegis of ARO Jorhat (Assam) and all the tests will be completed by March 7.
