DAPORIJO, Nov 21: To inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship and  expose local youths to national sports activities, 17th battalion of the Punjab Regiment, Borarupok in collaboration with district administration organised an archery competition at Government Higher Secondary School here today for youths between the age group of 15-25. Forty archers from different villages of Daporijo participated in the event.
The championship started from 18 meters and was subsequently increased to difficult level to bring out the best talent out of the archers. Displaying their skills, Tate Dobin, Tapa Nilling and Vinod Markia were adjudged first, second and third in the championship. They were awarded a cash prize of Rs.10,000, Rs.5,000 and Rs.3,000 respectively along with certificates. Each archers participating in the competition were awarded with certificate of participation.
The event was attended by commanding officer Colonel Sunil Kumar, DC i/c N Chatung, ADC, SP Keni Bagra and Circle Officer Yamo Tamut.
