LONGDING, Nov 27: The Assam Rifles in an effort to support and provide knowledge on agriculture to the Wancho community of Longding district, organised a 5-day farmers tour to Assam Agriculture University (AAU), Jorhat and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Shillong on Monday.
The Wancho farmers tour was earlier flagged off by the local MLA Tanpho Wangnaw in the presence of local PRI leaders and officials of the Assam Rifles.
The AR in a statement informed that the tour is an effort to support and uplift the farmers of the district in the agricultural sector. It will also provide valuable exposure and knowledge to farmers in remote areas of Longding district in promoting sustainable farming practices and fostering rural development.
Also, during the tour, farmers will be taken to various agricultural institutions like AAU, Jorhat and ICAR, Shillong, where they will be exposed to innovative farming techniques, modern technologies and best practices in crop cultivation, animal husbandry, and organic farming.
Experts from different fields have been roped in to provide guidance and ensure a holistic learning experience. The farmers tour also focused on creating awareness about government schemes and subsidies available for farmers.
