KHONSA, Apr 13:The Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles undertook an operation in Old Laptang of Tirap District today and apprehended Naga Army No 4608 Self Style Second Lieutenant Khampai Wangsu who was terrorizing people to extort money from the villagers. The cadre was nabbed with pistol and ammunition.The individual was active member of the NSCN(IM) group and was involved in enumerous heinous crimes like sending demand letters , kidnapping and extortion activities in the area.

          The SF has been carrying out aggressive operations in the South ALP and this apprehension has struck a blow to the extortion activities being carried out by the underground cadres of the group in the area.
