ITANAGAR, May 28: All Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society today took to the streets to express its resentment over the state government’s indifference regarding the illegal appointments in the 5th Body of the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW).
Holding placards and sporting black ribbons on their head, hundreds of women from almost 30 different branches of APWWS joined the rally that began from Akashdeep and culminated at Tennis Court, IG Park.
Speaking to reporters, President APWWS Dipti Bengia informed that despite two weeks going by after submission of memorandum to the authority concerned including Chief Minister, Pema Khandu there has been no positive response from the government compelling the society to take out the peaceful rally.
“We will not bow down and will fight to stop illegal appointments,” she added.
While slamming state government for its lackadaisical attitude, General Secretary APPWS Kani Nada Maling alleged that the state government has violated the laid down norms of the Commission to appoint new members and Chairperson in the 5th Body of the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW).
When asked about their next move, she informed that they will seek suggestions and then decide on their next course of action.
