ITANAGAR, Jun 22: The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society has taken strong exception to the performance of a ritual in Tawang where women were reportedly made to swear that they had voted for BJP.
During the ritual, as is evident  from the video  which is at the centre of  controversy, two women were seen being touched inappropriately by a man who asks them whom they voted for. APWWS said that such rituals undermine the personal liberty of women and tantamounts to molestation which is absolutely unacceptable. It had appealed to the district police and administration to ensure that perpetrators are booked so that such unacceptable behaviour is not repeated.
It needs mentioning that a video of the ritual has surfaced in which a BJP worker is seen asking people to swear before the holy Buddhist scriptures that they had voted for the party in the last parliamentary and state elections. The incident reportedly occurred in Tangzen village in Kitpi circle under Tawang AC on June 19 last. APWWS PR
