Aalo, Apr 28: The Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society, West Siang has vehemently condemned the rape of a 12 year old mentally challenged girl at Kamba on April 19 last. APWWS team led by its President Marbom Bagra, responding to an appeal for assistance sought by the victim’s family members to take up the case, went to Kamba on April 25 and interacted with the victim and her family members. The apex women wing of the district expressed their anguish over the way the mentally challenged minor girl was treated. In a letter to the district administration and police, APWWS has termed the incident as a heinous crime and demanded exemplary punishment for the culprit. Few other women organizations also met the family of the rape victim and called for investigation in a fair manner so that such crimes are not repeated against girl children. DIPRO
