ITANAGAR, Jul 22: Chief Minister Pema Khandu today flagged off 30 new Xylo Transport service vehicles of Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Service (APSTS) in presence of Minister for Transport Nakap Naloh, Home Minister Bamang Felix, General Manager APST Abu Tayeng and other officials here at the Civil Secretariat.
Speaking to the media, Khandu said that state government has earmarked sufficient amount for the Transport department to purchase more vehicles in the recent budget session. General Manager, APST informed that as an up-gradation from Tata Sumo service, the department is now using seven-seater Mahindra Xylo that will offer a more comfortable journey at an affordable fare. “We have not assigned the vehicles yet but probably all the 30 Xylos will ply,” added Tayeng. He further disclosed that the state government has allotted Rs 10 crore for purchasing more new vehicles. This is the first phase and more such vehicles will be introduced in the coming days, asserted the GM.
When asked about the revenue earnings of the department, Tayeng said that this year the target is to generate Rs 20 crore in comparison to 2018 when the department generated Rs 18 crore.
