Naharlagun, Jul 20: ‘Two days Orientation Programme for Legal Aid Counsels/Retainer Lawyers under (A2J & JK) Project Initiative’ commenced today organised by the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) in collaboration with the Department of Justice, Ministry  of Law & Justice, GoI.
The programme is a part of the scheme to train Legal Aid Counsels and Retainer Lawyers on various facts of law and their role in implementation of legal services activities. The panel of resource persons included Member Secretary, APSLSA Budi Habung, Deputy Secretary, Department of Law & Justice, Dani Belo, Advocate & Mediator, Supreme Court, Reema Bhandari, Advocate Delhi High Court and IT expert Manish Manocha, Child Welfare Committee, Capital Complex representative Kani Nada Maling and Legal Aid Counsel, APSLSA Raknu Konya.
During the first day Member Secretary, APSLSA Budi Habung gave a brief introduction on the functioning of Legal Services Authority in Arunachal Pradesh, role of Legal Aid Counsels and an overview of criminal laws and practices with special reference to state courts. Kani Nada Maling presented an overview of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2015 and working of JJB & CWC in the state & role of Legal Aid Counsels in assisting JJB & CWC. Raknu Konya spoke on the Arunachal Pradesh Recording of Marriage Act, 2008, Marriage Registration procedures & role of Legal Aid Counsels in assisting the intended couple for registration of marriage. Dani Belo spoke on the various welfare schemes of the government and role of Legal Aid Counsels in assisting the beneficiaries and the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme, 2011. Supreme Court lawyer and mediator Reema Bhandari spoke on Commercial Court Act, 2015 & its amendment.
On the second day of the programme, discussions on cyber crime, cyber security and electronic evidence are scheduled to be held. Nearly 47 participants attended the programme on the first day. APSLSA PR
