Itanagar, Jun 30: The Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) in collaboration with the Arunachal Law Academy conducted a two-day Online Awareness cum Training Programme for law students on June 29-30 here from its office.
The chief objective of the programme was to build the capacity of the law students as Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and provide an insight on women and child protection laws. The online training was participated by 110 students from Arunachal Law Academy, Lekhi through the virtual mode. On the first day of the training, Member Secretary, APSLSA Jaweplu Chai explained the importance of PLVs and exhorted the students to play proactive roles in creating a safety net for the communities in the state. Additional Sessions Judge (SFTC), Dwarka Court, Delhi Geetanjali Goel joined the training as the key Resource Person from Delhi and threw light on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, alarming rise of domestic violence cases in India and the available solutions. This was followed by a session on Legal Services Authority Act. The opening day concluded with a vote of thanks from the Principal, Arunachal Law Academy Dr. G. George.
Concluding day of the training saw Legal Aid Counsel, APSLSA Advocate Nani Modi taking a session on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 followed by a quiz contest on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 conducted by Legal Consultant, APSLSA Advocate Marie Riba. She also took a technical session on the Act and offered solutions on how PLVs can play an important role in protecting a victim and provide justice to the doorstep at grassroots level. OSD, APSLSA Dani Belo made the closing remarks. 
The training ended with a lively Q&A session between the students and Resource Persons wherein various doubts and queries on the subject were clarified. APSLSA PR
