Award delivered in presence of CJI designate S. A. Bobde

New Delhi, Nov 10: Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) has clinched the Best State Legal Services Authority award amongst all the eight Northeast states.
The national level award was given during the National Commendation Ceremony of best State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), Para Legal Volunteer (PLV), Panel Lawyer, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) on the occasion of Legal Services Day 2019 being held here at national capital on November 9 last which was attended amongst others by Chief Justice of India Designate & Executive Chairman, National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) Justice S. A. Bobde and Union Minister of Law & Justice etc Ravi Shankar Prasad. 
APSLSA was awarded the Zonal Best State Legal Services Authority of North East zone while Zonal Best Para Legal Volunteer was awarded to PLV from Tripura. Panel Lawyer from Nagaland won Zonal Best Panel Lawyer and DLSA of Assam won the Zonal Best District Legal Services Authority award.
It may be recalled that in 2016, DLSA Papum Pare won the Best District Legal Services Authority and in 2018, Panel Lawyer from Tirap won the best Panel Lawyer among Northeast states. With the winning of this award, Legal Services Authorities across Arunachal Pradesh have achieve a unique distinction of winning three national awards as on date which is a commendable achievement considering the state’s remote location and scattered population coupled with low levels of legal awareness among its large sections of society. APSLSA’s current Executive Chairman is Justice Rumi Kumari Phukan, Judge, Gauhati High Court and Budi Habung is the Member Secretary. It needs mentioning that National Commendation Ceremony is an annual event of National Legal Services Authority for felicitation of best performing State Legal Services Authority, best District Legal Services Authority, best Panel Lawyer and best Para Legal Volunteer from across the states. Chief Justice, High Court of Delhi & Patron in Chief, Delhi SLSA Justice D. N. Patel, Judge, Supreme Court of India & Chairman, Supreme Court Legal services Committee N. V. Ramana, Judge, High court of Delhi & Executive Chairman, Delhi SLSA Justice G. S. Sistani and others senior judges of Supreme Court, High Courts, Executive Chairmen & Member Secretaries of State Legal Services Authorities, Chairmen & Secretaries of District Legal Services Authorities, Judicial Officers, Panel Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers from all over India were present on the occasion.
