ITANAGAR, Apr 29: A team from the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) led by Chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi visited Mother’s Home, a refuge functioning for destitute women in Lekhi village.
Interacting with the visiting APSCW team, owner of the Home Taliyang Shanti informed that she is willing to provide shelter to destitute women from all over the state if state government allocates permanent plots of land for both their Homes. Since there is no recreational centre for the aged women, she requested the government to look into the matter which will ensure better health of the inmates. The Home’s owner informed that as they are running two Mother’s Home, one at Ziro in Lower Subansiri district and the other at Lekhi Village in Naharlagun, the current volume of fund is not sufficient to run them simultaneously. She further said she would like to welcome the underprivileged women who do not have any relatives to look after. The Commission donated 200 surgical masks and sanitizers to the inmates, distributed essential ration items and donated some amount for their medical treatment and urgent needs.
APSCW has also requested the concerned authorities to look into the matter and extend necessary help for encouraging such social activities. APSCW PR
