ITANAGAR, Jan 9: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), visited the mental hospital, Midpu today and interacted with medical officer-in-charge, medical staff and inspected the institution.
The team comprised of Chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi, Vice Chairperson Hyomai Towsik, members Hoksum Ori, Techi Hunmai and Likha Joya along with Member Secretary Yame Higio.
It was informed that only two medical officers and two multi tasking staff are insufficient to run the institution. In this regard, the MO-in-charge has submitted memorandum to the Director of Health Services, Naharlagun to provide another medical officer and more multi tasking staff for strengthening the medical. Medical team and patients also face shortage of water supply, the team said.
During the visit, the team found from the office record that two female patients namely Smti Yanya Pujen, 71, from Village Papikurung, Monigaon circle and Smti Yaluk Ragyor, 62, from Village Tagur, Tato of Shi-Yomi District are fit to be discharged as per the letter of Director of Health Services, Naharlagun. However, they are still staying in the Hospital. While interacting with the patients it was found that the families of both the patients have not visited them since they got admitted for the treatment. The Commission has requested the family members to visit the patients and further appealed the district administration and NGOs of the concerned district to trace out their families and reunite them.
The team also urged the government to assist the hospital as it also provides medical assistance, medicines to a rehabilitation centre at Senki Park, run by one Deepak Nabam. APSCW PR
