ITANAGAR, Sep 29: The State Level Science Drama Competition 2019 with theme ‘Science & Society’ was organized today here at the Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre by Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology.
The programme was inaugurated by Director cum Member Secretary, APSCS&T, Department of Science & Technology, GoAP, C.D. Mungyak in presence of a host of invited judges/evaluators for the programm. Mungyak urged the students to use the power of expression by means of technology and said that this is an excellent platform for not only for juvenile artistic creativity but also for using the medium of drama as a potent tool for dealing with socio-scientific issues of current importance in the society. The motto behind organizing science drama competition is to encourage students, teachers and other science communicators to explore and experiment with the dramatic form as a means of science communication.
With ‘Science & Society’ as the main theme, the competition also had the sub-themes of ‘Gandhi & Science’, ‘Cleanliness, Health & Hygiene’, ‘Periodic Table’ and ‘Clean & Green Energy’. The competition was judged by a panel of judges comprising Assistant Director, IPR Naharlagun Radhe Tajung, District Library and Information Officer State Library Yalam Toko and Scientist ‘C’ State Remote Sensing Application Centre Dr. Swapna Acharji. The technical aspect of drama was explained by Radhe Tajunj and Yalam Toko, whereas the scientific content of drama was explained by Dr. Swapna Acharji.
A total of 10 Government and Private schools participated in the competition. The Finalist of State Level Science Drama Competition will participate in NE Zonal Level Science Drama Competition 2019 to be held at Regional Science Centre Guwahati on October 14 next and the competition will culminate in a festive mode under the banner “National Science Drama Festival” to be held at Birla Industrial and Technology Museum, Kolkata in the month of January 2020.
The first three winner teams of competition were Vivekananda Residential Public School, Vivek Vihar, Don Bosco School, Jully and Vivekananda Kendra Vidayalaya, Nirjuli. Best Actor award went to Rei Obhi Taniang of Don Bosco School, Best Actress to Usha Chetry of GHHS, Arunodaya, Vivek Vihar, Best Director to Prateek Sutradhar, VRPS, Vivek Vihar and Best Script Writer to Sankar Sutradhar, also from VRPS.
