HC asks RGU VC to form panel to probe irregularities

ITANAGAR, Nov 14: In a significant decision, the Gauhati High Court, Itanagar Permanent Bench while responding to several petitions in connection with APSCCE Examination-2017 has reportedly directed the Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) to form a minimum five-member committee to look into complaints of irregularities in setting the APSCCE prelims-2017 question papers of all 22 optional subjects as made out by the aspirants.
The court directed the committee to submit the report of the findings within 45 days and fixed January 7 as the next hearing for the case.
The court order comes in the backdrop of complaints from aspirants on inconsistencies in the APPSCCE Prelims examination -2017.
Several pleas have been filed in Itanagar bench of the High Court seeking quashing of the whole examination process alleging inconsistencies during the test.
When contacted, Secretary, Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, Taru Talo said that the commission as of now hasn’t received any official order or direction in writing from the court.
He said that the examination process will continue as per direction issued by the court earlier.

When questioned how many students appeared for the examination, the Secretary informed that a total of 899 candidates appeared on day one, 645 on day two and 79 out of 80 students on the third day.

Meanwhile, today’s development has evoked widespread resentment among students who have been protesting since Friday.
The agitating students have decided to intensify their protest by organising a hunger strike if the commission fails to address their grievances.
