NAMSAI, Dec 28: In a very exciting final of XVII Tadar Tang State-level Football Tournament 2018 here at Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh Police defeated Namsai 1-0 to become the new champions.
Till the first half, both teams created chances but failed to convert them and after half time score remained goalless.
Same attacking play was maintained by both teams in second half also.
Experienced coach of APP Tapi Apa changed the formation from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 by substituting Captain Toko Poliam in 70th minute in the dying minutes of the match and Givindso Drai of APP scored the winning goal for his team and helped APP to lift its maiden Tadar Tang Championship trophy.
Match was attended by Dr. Mohesh Chai, Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs as the Chief Guest along with local MLA Zignu Namchoom as Guest of Honour.
Kipa Ajay, Secretary of APFA and Dr. Tapashya Raghav, deputy commissioner, were special invitees for the closing ceremony.
In his speech, Dr. Chai said that Arunachal has emerged as a sports power house in recent years winning medals in national and international levels.
He also lauded the efforts put forward by APFA for the development of football in the state. He congratulated the state Sub Jr. Boy’s football team for winning silver medal in the recently concluded National Football Championship.
"Natural ability was always there in our youths but lack of proper facilities and training they couldn't shine in highest levels. Sports department has been giving sincere priority to develop required infrastructure and facilities for our youths so that they compete against best in the country and abroad as well ", he said.
