ITANAGAR, Mar 27:The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee has vehemently opposed the Centre’s move to open up and relax the Protected Area Permit (PAP) regime in Arunachal Pradesh to enable foreign tourists to access border areas.

In a memorandum addressed to the Governor, the APCC said that Arunachal Pradesh is a very sensitive border state with China, who claims Arunachal Pradesh as its territory again & again, the example of Doklam and Tuting in Upper Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh where Chinese is constructing road in Indian territory violating the McMohan line recently. In such a sensitive prevailing situation, if foreigners/tourists are allowed to move freely in the State and the border area, it will create vulnerable situation in the State and its indigenous people and nation as a whole. There is every apprehension of spying the sensitive border areas if PAP is relax in the State, the APCC said in its memorandum.
