ITANAGAR, Mar 3: Taking serious exception to Chief Minister Pema Khandu's statement ‘Congress government had always used NE states, Arunachal Pradesh in particular, as money minting machine’, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has termed the statement as 'the joke of the decade.'
Recently the CM at Mebo Assembly Constituency had said that Congress government had always used NE states, Arunachal Pradesh in particular, as money minting machine’ while the BJP has been giving priority to develop surface communication in the area.
The Congress party reminded the CM that he is the brainchild of Indian National Congress. Moreover, his father, late Dorjee Khandu became a panchayat leader, MLA, Minister & Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh by contesting elections on Congress ticket.
It cannot be ruled out that CM Khandu has inherited the same legacy as was brought to limelight during last Assembly election when Rs 1.80 crore belonging to the BJP leaders were seized from two vehicles of the CM’s convoy reflecting true colour of saffron brigade.
The statement of CM Khandu questions his insensitivity towards the Congress which groomed him what he is today from a simple businessman.
Moreover, it is regrettable that he has been parroting the tone of the RSS, which has been remote controlling the BJP-led government in the Centre.
‘If the Centre is really concerned about the state’s physical development, has any new scheme been sanctioned? questioned APCC while reminding that Holongi Greenfield Airport, Trans-Arunachal Highway, railway link to Naharlagun, TRIHMS were sanctioned during UPA-2 government led by the then prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
