SHILLONG, Oct 23: Members of Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association (APCA) led by its patron and former CM Nabam Tuki today paid their last tributes on behalf of the state’s Catholic Community to Archbishop Dominic Jala who died in a tragic car accident along with Fr. Mathew Vellankal at Colusa County, Oakland in California, USA on October 10 last.
Rev. Dominic Jala, who was born on July 12, 1951 at Mawlai in Shillong was appointed the Archbishop of the Diocese in December 1999. He was also the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Nongstoin, Meghalaya, Provincial of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Guwahati Province, Chairman of North East India Regional Bishops’ Council (NEIRBC) and Chairman of Liturgical Commission of the Conference of the Catholic Bishops of India.
Being actively involved in all matters connected with the Church and society in the Northeast and Catholic Bishops Conference of India, Archbishop Jala also kept keen interest in Arunachal Pradesh particularly in the field of education. APCA PR
