PASIGHAT,Jun 27:

As part of   the  Anti-Malaria Month Observation here in East Siang,  the  Health department under its  District Vector Borne Diseases Control  Programme is carrying out  awareness activities  with the theme : Ready to Fight Malaria , at the community level ,particularly in low lying Malaria endemic areas of the District.

Rallies  and Public Meetings has been  organized in Borguli-Kiyit under Mebo and Ngorlung involving  village community, School Children, Teachers,  GBs, ASHAS, Anganwadi workers,  Nurses, Paramedical staff  of Borguli & Ngorlung SC and various other stakeholders. Ruksin Sub-Division and other areas are also being covered.

Dr. K. Lego, DVBDCPO, East Siang, informed on the causes and types of Malaria, and urged to take all steps to prevent Mosquito breeding due to stagnant water  in the house and surroundings and other preventive measures like use of Mosquito Net etc ,particularly during Monsoon/rainy season . He called upon the students, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and community members to spread the message on the preventive measures in their respective villages and homes.  We must all work for complete eradication of Malaria, Dr, Lego stressed. He also asked to visit Health Centres or reach out to ASHAa in case of any fever .

 

The National Framework for Malaria Elimination has set the goal to eliminate Malaria by 2030.
