RONO HILLS, Jan 31: Department of Anthropology, Rajiv Gandhi University conducted an Ethnographic Fieldwork at Basarnallo village in Papum Pare district from January 14-31 which mainly dealt with various socio-cultural issues of the local people like women health & status, drug abuse, changing scenario of marriage, kinship, religion, economic challenges etc.
The team of 24 MA Anthropology 2nd Semester students was led by Assistant Professor, RGU Dr. Md. Asghar and the 18-day fieldwork was an effort to broaden the perspective of the students and help them understand the ground realities, problems, challenges and issues of Basarnallo.
The programme was an endeavour on the part of RGU’s Department of Anthropology to reach out to the people of Basarnallo to create awareness among them in respect of different issues and challenges prevailing in the area based on assessment during the fieldwork. RGU PR
