Book on Traditional Festivals of Arunachal Pradesh released
ZIRO, Feb 16:The Department of Anthropology under the School of Human & Environmental Sciences at Saint Claret College, Ziro observed the World Anthropology Day on February 15-16,focusing on the theme “Celebrate, Engage, Inspire” as adopted by the American Anthropological Association.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. VN Sharma, the Vice Chancellor of Arunodaya University, Itanagar.
Emphasising the importance of anthropology in a tribal state like Arunachal Pradesh, he asked the students to excel in their academics to let the world know more about anthropology and its relevance in contemporary human societies.
Terming the event as important, Dr. [Fr.] Allwyn Mendoz, the Principal of the Saint Claret College, Ziro appreciated the department for various historic achievements in a short span of time. Earlier, Tame Ramya (Tarh), the Head of Department highlighted the motives behind World Anthropology Day celebration and various achievements of the department.
Various activities such as poster display, an anthropological exhibition of archaeological tools, models on human evolution, laboratory items, tribal artefacts, and screening of ethnographic films were held. A quiz competition was also conducted to mark the occasion.
