ITANAGAR, Jun 4:Reiterating immediate fulfillment of its long pending 6 point charter of demands, the All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) on Monday cautioned the State Government that it will launch mass movement or even resort to capital bandh if the deteriorating education scenario under Nyishi inhabited areas are not addressed within stipulated time.
ANSU has been demanding the government to fill all Govt aided schools with required subject teachers (TGTs and PGTs) including principal, headmasters in various upgraded schools under Nyishi inhabited districts while alleging that despite announcement of up gradation through gazette notification many schools remain in the same pathetic condition as earlier.
It cited few examples of institutions such as Govt higher secondary schools established in East Kameng, Lower Subansiri, Chayangtajo, etc and few middle schools such as Govt secondary schools at Mani, Papumpare, Basarnallo(Papumpare),Pistana( Lower Subansiri),Sarli (Kurung Kumey) etc which were upgraded in 2009 but the government is yet to make them full-fledged.
To provide regular mid day meal including textbooks and other basic amenities such as classroom furniture, uniforms, timely disbursement of salary of SSA/RMSA teachers including student stipends and immediate infrastructure development etc were among its other demands.
In a press conference, General Secretary, ANSU, Tukbom Ligu highlighted various issues confronting further development of education in schools under Nyishi belt especially in remote areas and sought reformative measures from both the education department and state government in solving these emerging issues.
Raising serious concern over the deteriorating standard of education, particularly that of higher education in the state, Ligu while referring to poor performance of students in the recently declared CBSE X and XII-2018 results lamented that the worst affected are the schools under Nyishi belt.
He categorically cited poor policies adopted by the education department as the reason behind the dismal performance of students in the CBSE examination and pointed out that lack of transparency in faculty recruitment, shortage of subject teachers in schools are affecting the health of education in state.
The Organization also opposed the frequent transfer of teachers without sending reliever thereby severely affecting the academic progression of students and urged the government to provide sufficient funds to every school for infrastructure development.
