PASIGHAT, Sep 29: Along with the rest of the country, District ICDS Cell, East Siang, WCD Department is also celebrating the Rashtriya Poshan Maah with a series of activities to spread awareness on proper nutrition to combat malnutrition in children, women and adolescent girls.
As a part of this, an awareness camp on Poshan Maah was organized today at Mural Village, Ledum under Bilat Circle, in collaboration with the Department of Health & Family Welfare to boost convergence efforts. Awareness on proper nutrition, nutritional values of food for proper nourishment, Dulari Kanya Scheme, PMMVY and Immunisation was imparted. Pregnant mothers, general public, school children, ASHAs, ANMs, HWOs, Anganwadi Workers and teaching staff attended the campaign. A total of 14 haemoglobin tests were made, out of which 4 were found to very anaemic with Hb % less than 10 gm /dl who were given iron tablets.
Similar awareness camp was organized at Raling Village on Saturday on early childhood care and education, nutrition and sanitation in the Community Hall by ICDS Mebo in collaboration with the Department of Education. DD ICDS, Ponung Ering Angu, DDSE, J.Yirang, Principal DIET, Biren Dutta and DDMO, G.Tsomu spoke on the topics of education, school safety and nutrition. A cultural programme comprising drama, dance and song event was also organized in convergence with NSS volunteers of JN College at Rengging Village on September 27 spreading the message of Poshan Abhiyan. Drawing /painting and essay writing competitions on nutrition were organized in various schools of the district and clay modelling on fruits and vegetables were also organized at Anganwadi Centres under Mebo ICDS. East Siang District Administration also felicitated ten best performing Anganwadi Workers of the district recently who received bicycles from the DA who are the frontline workers in the field of women and child development and in spreading message on proper nutrition and delivery of health and nutrition services to children and pregnant & lactating mothers. A Poshan Vehicle was launched recently to spread the message of Poshan Tyohar through music and public address. It may be recalled that East Siang DC, Dr.Kinny Singh launched the month-long Poshan Tyohar with the theme “Har Ghar Poshan Tyohar” at Mirbuk Community Hall organized by the Department of WCD on September1 and Chief Minister Pema Khandu also attended Poshan Diwas at Pasighat on September 9 last.
Poshan Maah celebrations will conclude this month with a closing ceremony programme, wherein prizes will be given away to the winners of various competitions. DIPRO
