RONO HILLS, Dec 18: The Second General Body Meeting of the Alumni Association of Rajiv Gandhi University (AARGU) was held today here at the University Mini Academic Hall.
Alumni members from 1986 batch and onwards attended the meeting and discussed at length and resolved to take ownership and contribute back to the university in its growth and development through activities like scholarship for poor students, library books, donation through Alumni Endowment Fund, teaching and sharing ideas, counselling and organizing workshops etc. They also pledged to serve the university in whatever capacity they can and volunteer for any developmental initiative. Senior alumni members and advisors like Vijoy Sonam, Nera Techi and outgoing President Likha Tongum and Secretary Nabam Vivek spoke on the occasion. Vice-Chancellor I/c Professor Amitava Mitra and Registrar I/c Professor Tomo Riba also shared their views on the significance of the Alumni Association. Dr. Nani Tamang Jose and Solung Sonam were selected as the new President and Secretary, AARGU respectively for three years.
AARGU is a statutory and official body under the Rajiv Gandhi University Act, 2006 No. 8 of 2007 under Section 39 of Clauses (1)(2)(3). The varsity, which in its early days was known as Arunachal University has produced a large numbers of luminaries, technocrats, bureaucrats, businessmen, social workers, politicians and responsible citizens for the state.
