RAKSO / PALIN, Apr 28:  Congress candidate and former Minister Takam Pario has demanded another re-poll in Rakso polling station, alleging booth capturing and violence on the day of re-poll on April 27.
Pario, submitted a letter to the Returning Officer 18-Palin (ST) Assembly Constituency Palin, Kra Daadi demanding another re-poll under section 58(2)  of  Representation of People Act in 38-Rakso polling station. In his letter to the RO, the  Congress candidate claimed that rival candidate from JDU and his supporters had blocked the entire main approach road from Lumba to Rakso carrying lethal weapons, due to which more than 150 registered voters were stopped, obstructed and even assaulted.
Pario in his letter narrated, “This is pre-planned gundaism, intimidation and a clear sign of murder of democracy. We were assaulted, warned and intimidated and my vehicle was stoned and poured with petrol with an intention to kill me with my security personnel. After that, I had to return to my own village, leaving the registered Congress voters in the middle of  RWD road between Rakso to Lumba.”
While slamming the  RO for his failure in providing security, Pario added that not only the voters, even DIG,  Kime Kamin and SP were initially not allowed to enter the villages and polling station by JD(U) supporters and such acts can never ensure free and fair voting.
“We waited till morning on the day of re-poll with hope that your office will provide security to the voters by escorting them to Rakso village but you failed to provide security to make them reach the destination,”  letter stated.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Kra Daadi while speaking to media informed that the genuine voters registered in Rakso polling station will be allowed to cast their vote with security.
However, the contesting  JDU  candidate couldn’t be contacted for comments on the allegations. ES Newsdesk
