ITANAGAR, May 17:

The Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum (AITF) has called upon the people of both Adi and Galo community to maintain peace and harmony and appealed to the executive members of Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) and the Galo Welfare Society (GWS) to maintain restraint in the best interest of the state.

Expressing deep concern over the ongoing social unrest involving the two large communities of the state, the AITF said ‘we are deeply concerned over the exchange of volatile press statements between both the communities since last few weeks, which is in some way posing threat to enduring peace and tranquillity between the two major tribes.’

The AITF further offered to ‘sit across’ the table if both parties agree to hammer out a viable solution to the vexed issue and find out a lasting solution.

It further asked the Government to come forward with a pragmatic approach on the contentious issue involving civil society at large.
