ITANAGAR, Jun 7:State Agriculture & allied sectors minister Dr. Mohesh Chai took a review meeting of Agriculture department at the Directorate of Agriculture at Naharlagun on June 6. Parliamentary Secretary, Agriculture Er.Tatung Jamoh also was present in the meeting.
The duo visited the State Bio control Lab, State seed testing and soil Testing Lab and interacted with the concerned officers to take stock of the progress of soil health card and seed quality assurance.
Director of Agriculture, Anong Lego, briefed about the ongoing activities of the department. In a power point presentation, AK Purkayastha, Advisor of the Department elucidated about the backdrop, status and strategy for doubling of Farmers’ Income by 2022 as envisioned by the Prime Minister of India. The issues requiring attention of the state government for inclusive growth of farm sector were also highlighted in the presentation.
The Agriculture Minister in his address explained that the objective of the meeting is to interact with the officers and learn about the activities under central and state sector funding and sought for suggestions for ensuring convergence of Agri & allied sector activities.
He also emphasized for taking up market infrastructure for creating forward and backward linkage so as to ensure remunerative price of surplus agri-hoti produce. He advised for proper documentation of successful projects and information dissemination.
Modalities for proper implementation of CM’s Krishi Rinn Yojana, Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojana were discussed and he advised to convene separate meeting with the NABARD and Commercial Banks in this regard. Location specific crop mapping was suggested to be done by the department for proper utilization of suitable resources and advised to conceptualize innovative schemes.
