PANGIN, Oct 5: An urgent coordination meeting to sort out various ongoing issues and to achieve overall betterment for the district was held today at Pangin, Siang District under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Takuk which was attended by SP Kushal Pal Singh, administrative officers and public leaders of the area.
The DC informed that the meeting was specifically called to have a detailed discussion on the various issues facing Pangin area in presence of all stakeholders so as to reach to an amicable solution. Stating that the present scenario in the area was hugely detrimental for the development of the district and adversely affecting maintenance of peace in the area, he appealed to the leaders to call off the ongoing economic blockade in the area and to join hands with the District Administration to work towards development of the district and it's people. He further advised them to place their demands if any in the form of a memorandum to the government. Speaking on the occasion, SP Siang thanked all leaders for cooperating with Administration and Police and for not resorting to violent means for pursuing their demands. Stating that the common populace was the most impacted, he urged the parties not to carry the blockade any further. aMany public leaders also spoke on the occasion. After extensive deliberation, the agitators agreed to call off the economic blockade with effect from midday of October 6 for two months paving the way for further dialogue.
However they placed several demands namely establishment of independent ADC headquarters Pangin, continuation of and establishment of some departments in Pangin, reinstatement of the HGBs and GBs who had resigned, making Pangin a part of twin district headquarters and for Pangin to remain the temporary district Headquarters till completion of mini secretariat at Boleng.
