TEZU, Jan 24: Petrol and diesel crisis loomed large in Lohit district since yesterday affecting normal life. Passenger vehicles including buses are badly affected after the depot went dry.
“The depot is out of stock so we drew our shutters down due to halt of supply from Assam,” informed a depot staff. When enquired about the actual cause of the crisis, DFC&SO, T Gamlin said that economic blockade called by Assam unions protesting against Citizenship Amendment Bill passed in Lok Sabha and Lekang circle on PRC issue have badly affected the normal supply of fuel, leading to the crisis.
Roads at Doomdoma, Makum and Tinsukia including Dirak gate have been under blockade, restricting goods and other essential commodities which are in shortages. “We are pursuing the matter with the Assam counterpart,” he assured.
Deputy Commissioner Lohit, Karma Leki has been constantly monitoring the situation to ease the crisis.
