AALO, Feb 8:The rehabilitation centre for drug addicts was made functional at Lower Hiker Gumin Aalo after years of struggle and effort put in by Mothers Vision backed by well wishers on February 7 last.
Attending the inaugural, Deputy Commissioner, West Siang, Swetika Sachan lauded the effort of the NGO and said that we cannot remain indifferent to growing vices of drug addiction as it has adverse impact on development of conducive society to live in.
Whatever little amount has been poured in from district administration for the centre is an encouragement to societal effort put in by Mothers Vision, she said exhorting all women to keep up the good works they are taking up.
Chairman, Jumde Yomgam Gamlin said that the NGO made a humble beginning to create awareness on cleanliness and drug abuse in sectors and colonies and need for a rehabilitation centre arose to give proper education and recovery of many drug addicts in the district.
The rehab centre could function today after a long drawn effort in her plot of land through cooperation and help of many well wishers.
In his key note address, Canady Bagra, Counselor of the rehabilitation centre dwelt at length on addiction treatment and its recovery process. He disclosed that resource persons will be arriving soon to extend all possible guidance. It is an encouraging trend that all addicts for long years who have recovered in toto are manning the centre, he said.
Former Minister Doi Ado and District Medical Officer Dr. Nyage Geyi who attended the function also lauded the NGOs unique mission and assured all possible cooperation and assistances from their side.
Representatives from Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society, Galo Ane and other women organizations also attended the function.
