PASIGHAT, May 13:   Reacting to reports regarding sale of subsidized rice in open market, the officials of the supply department here conducted an enquiry into the incident as soon as the complaint was received, informed Bijoy Pertin, DF&CSO, Pasighat.

While talking to this reporter, Pertin informed that, the alleged illegal sale of subsidized rice was done by the salesman of the shop in absence of the owner of the shop. However, the district administration has taken note of the incident and has issued warnings to the Fair Price Shops not to indulge in such malpractice which shall not be tolerated, added Pertin.

Meanwhile, a meeting is being convened shortly in the office of the DF&CSO to discuss the matter with all the Fair Price Shop owners to sensitize the issue to pre-empt such despicable act in the future, informed, Pertin who has personally taken serious note of the illegal sale of subsidized rice in open market by some FPS.

It is worth mentioning here that, the members of Adi Students’ Union, All Bogong Students Union (E) and East Siang District Students’ Union had jointly caught a shop in Sawmill area openly selling FCI rice on Tuesday last following which an FIR was also lodged against the erring shopkeeper and FPS owner.
