TAWANG, Jul 19: Review-cum-reorientation meeting of National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) Tawang was organized here at the Conference Hall of SP Office attended by the representatives from police and transport departments.
District Consultant, DTCC Tawang Sang Dorjee Dirkhipa explained about the ill-effects of tobacco on individual health and its overall harmful effect on society through Power Point Presentation. Work done during the last one year by police and DTC Cell jointly for effective implementation of COTPA Act 2003 were reviewed. Plans and future course of actions needed to be executed by the police and health department for moving one step forward towards a ‘Tobacco Free District’ were elaborated through Power Point Presentation.
DMO Dr. Wangdi Lama appealed all participants to be role models among family and society by adopting good behaviour and habits. Nodal Officer of NTCP requested the district police for frequent and effective action against violators of COTPA. SP Tawang, Sagar Singh Kalsi assured full cooperation from the district police in implementation and monitoring of tobacco control laws. DIPRO
