ITANAGAR, May 13:A team led by ADC Rumgong, Tuli Gangkak and assisted by EAC Kaying In-charge Dr. Gomin Bagra and few other members visited Kerang village on Friday to assess the extent of damage and loss incurred due to the fire accident that occurred in the village on May 11 last. The team interacted with the affected fire victims in the presence of HGB and GBs, PRI members and senior citizens of the concerned village.

As per the report of the ADC, altogether 26 houses have been completely destroyed by the fire. One house was deliberately dismantled by the villagers in order to contain the fire and stop it from spreading to adjacent houses. Apart from this, one shop and one hardware store was also destroyed in the fire accident. 

District administration distributed on the spot, a cash amount of Rs 4000 each to all 29 members of the affected houses as immediate relief. The villagers denying any foul play stated an electrical short circuit as the probable cause for start of fire. 

A five member board under the chairmanship of EAC Kaying has been constituted to ascertain the facts and assess the actual loss of properties for onward submission to government for further action.
