BAMENG, Aug 27: Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE) outbreak in Bameng, East Kameng district led to the death of a student of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidhayala (KGBV) while leaving 50 other students infected. There are a total of 86 students in the KGBV, Bameng.
15 students were later referred to District Hospital Seppa; three reportedly in serious condition; the victim, Anjali Miji, a student of class-VII was one of them.
A senior student of the school who was admitted at the general hospital, Seppa informed this reporter that the outbreak started since August 17 last and is still spreading.
Meanwhile speaking to this daily, DMO East Kameng, Dr. Lalchand Darung confirmed the outbreak of Acute Gastroenteritis. “The victim was already in shock when she was brought to the emergency at general hospital, Seppa and unfortunately succumbed. The other patients are receiving medical treatment.”
The DMO further informed that a medical team with Epidemiologist has been dispatched to conduct further investigations.
