YINGKIONG, Jan 18: Active TB case finding activities under the Revised National Tuberculosis Programme (RNTCP) was launched at Govt. Girls Residential School, Yingkiong today by Gyabo Pertin, EAC, I/c Deputy Commissioner, Upper Siang.
District TB Officer Yingkiong, Dr Ahik Miyu, while highlighting the objective of the ACF, informed the gathering that trained teams of health staffers will conduct house to house screening for TB in selected target populations in the district with the primary objective of detecting TB cases early by active case finding in targeted groups and to initiate treatment promptly.
Pertin, shared that TB was once associated with social stigma but expressed happiness in the positive changes observed in the management of TB cases in recent times. He urged all the students to correctly share their relevant personal health information with the health staff for maximum benefit. On the inaugural day itself, all the students and teaching staff of the school were screened for TB.
The programme was undertaken under the aegis of District Health Society (RNTCP) Yingkiong.
