ITANAGAR, Jul 2: The Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF) President Toko Teki on Thursday informed that the forum has formulated its own set of guidelines to be followed across the state by the churchgoers over and above the existing government instructions on Covid-19.
Attending a press conference, Teki said that the guidelines have been framed following the state government's directive to reopen churches. “Hand washing facility and thermal scanning (non-contact thermal thermometer) at the entrance of churches and wearing of masks have been made mandatory before entering churches,” he disclosed.
On social distancing measures, Teki said that churches have been directed to maintain shift-wise worship and arrange sector and family-wise seating arrangements. “Any sort of gathering, distribution of refreshment, loitering in and around the church premises before or after church services will not be allowed,” he added, also recommending the state’s Christian community to manage collections in such a way so that people can drop their contributions without touching the offering bags.
Teki also appealed to the elders, pregnant women and persons with co-morbid conditions not to visit churches and asked the parents not to take their children below 10 years of age till improvement of the Covid situation. “Any person or relative coming from districts should be strictly monitored before allowing them to enter into the churches,” he stressed. Usage of individual bibles and hymn books and basic PPE during church services, regular disinfection of church premises, avoidance of large gatherings etc. were the other directives issued by ACF, applicable to all churches in the state.
“It is the duty and responsibility of churchgoers to observe these guidelines strictly to stop the spread of Covid-19,” he appealed.
