PASIGHAT, Jul 16: Adi Baane Kebang, the apex & appellate body of the Adi society, a group of executive body of ABK (Apex) and ABK East Siang Unit visited flood affected villages of Sigar, Borguli, Seram, Kongkul and Namsing.
The team was led by Secretary General Okom Yosung, ABK East Siang President Obing Yomso, Secretary Talut Siram accompanied by the engineers of Pasighat Municipal Council, UD and Disaster Management department.
Before embarking on the trip, the ABK team also inspected the waterlogging sites near ALG at Lower Baskota area. Taking serious note of the encroachments over the stream channel of Pane which is leading to the blockade of normal flow of the stream, the team felt that there is an urgent need of demolishing all the structures over the stream. “We as CBO have serious concern for the overall well-being of our people and will suggest the District Administration to carry out a massive channel clearance drive in and around Pane Korong,” said Yosung.
Team ABK will submit their final suggestions and findings to the DC Pasighat after visiting Tolon river/Pagla Nadi along Pasighat-Ledum-Tene road on Thursday, informed ABK sources.
When asked why ABK hasn’t helped financially flood affected villages under Lower Mebo in carrying out voluntary flood control works, ABK spokesperson Jobomchang Mengu clarified that fund raising for the purpose is still on and the same shall be handed over to the affected villagers or to the Seeang Foundation soon.
