PASIGHAT, Jun 12: Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) executive members (apex) including all its frontal wings convened a general meeting on June 9 last here at its office in the backdrop of a rising spate of differences among its members.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Patrol of ABK Bassu Perme and was attended by all the executive members including its advisor, patrons, Apex CEBs, Bogum Bokang Kebang, District Executive and all other frontal wings like ABK Youth Wing, Adi Students Union etc from all the Adi inhabited districts of the state. After a threadbare discussion of the present issues concerning the ABK and Adis as a whole, the meeting concluded with a good note to resolve all the differences and stay united for greater welfare of Adis. The meeting also drew clarification that there were no malpractices in the election/selection procedure in the recently concluded conference of October 2018. While also terming the existence and formation of interim committee as an attempt to disintegrate the present executives of ABK in particular and Adi community as a whole, the meeting termed the interim committee formation as motivated on vested interest which will not be entertained in Adi inhabited districts.
The meeting also observed that failure to renew the registration of ABK doesn’t make the present ABK Central Executive Body a non-entity, as delay for renewal existed since 2008. The meeting also endorsed and declared their full support to the present ABK President, Getom Borang and Secretary General, Okom Yosung reposing confidence upon their leaderships. The house further passed a resolution for compulsory follow-up and implementation of any official action and decision of ABK CEB by all its members including various wings of ABK and others in all Adi inhabited villages.
In the end, the house also resolved to collectively persuade and resolved the differences within the disgruntled team, the interim committee and others for the larger interest of the Adi community. Talking at the sideline of the meeting, ABK Chief Patron, Bassu Perme, Chief Advisor, Rajiv Takuk and President, Getom Borang told this scribe that all of us must settle our differences and stay united for the larger interest and cause of the Adis.
It can be recalled that differences have surfaced among the members of ABK regarding the electoral process of the new office bearers which even led to knocking of doors of the court by some members.
