ITANAGAR, Jun 14:  Reiterating its demand for total lockdown, All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), the apex students’ body on Sunday has threatened to impose unplanned lockdown or bandh call if the COVID-19  situation worsens.
Briefing the media persons at a press conference, Vice President (Admin) AAPSU, Meje Taku said that the union strongly opposes the decision of re-opening schools, colleges and universities as reported from many districts. Union appealed the state government to publish a proper notification regarding schools and colleges to remain closed till 31 August 2020. "Even after the said date, the state government should re-open the academic session with prepared precautions against Covid-19," he added.
Reacting on the recent order from District Administration Capital region, the union strongly appealed for immediate withdrawal of order DC/ICR-01/2020 dated 12 June 2020 regarding revoking of  food and lodging facilities of police personnel in various paid quarantine centers.
“How can you not provide food and lodging to those police personnel who are on their duty 24X7 taking care of the quarantined people in various quarantine centers? They are the warriors fighting against the corona pandemic for us”, Meje stated.
Stressing on the previous demand of re-testing and randomly testing, demands for immediate installation and operationalisation of testing machines in various districts so that testing can be done in rapid motion were stressed.
While seeking modification in current SOP guidelines, AAPSU requested the state government for conducting test for all the frontline workers and to setup laboratories with paid testing for those who want to get tested.
The union appealed for strengthening the security in all entry check gates of the state as well as districts, as many illegal entries are in practice as per complaints from public. The union has provided helpline numbers for public to intimate of such illegal movement-- Helpline No. 9402450515, 8256979944, 9436078822 and 9436695652.
Demanding for classification of areas as zonal wise in the state for high alert of Covid-19 in order to aware the public with the highly positive area for better precautions also appealed to make public the names of the regions, hotels where positive case have been detected.
The union suggested for ‘Anti-Body Rapid’ test to be done on those truck drivers of essential commodities instead of just thermal scanning because the thermal scanning does not detect the virus unless there is any symptoms of the virus.
While appealing to speed up the requirement process for nurses by conducting the interview without further delay, Meje questioned the state government, ‘what is the reason behind the continuous cancellation of nurses interview when the state lacks in man power and needs to hire them in urgent basis?’
The union also questioned on irrational posting of Health and Wellness Officers (HWO) and Nurses during this period of time.
