AALO, Apr 2:A delegation of All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) headed by its Vice President (Protocol) Dr. Tayuk Sonam visited Government New Market Secondary School, Aalo on Saturday.

Thoroughly inspecting the school campus, the AAPSU team found that the classrooms and school buildings are in dilapidated condition with acute shortage of classroom infrastructure like bench and desks. And lack of hygienic toilets and drinking water supply battered the condition of the 39-year-old government education institute more.

Established in 1979 as a primary school GNMSS was upgraded to secondary level in 2017.

Mili Ori, a member of School Management Committee of the school while interacting with the students’ union informed that the school has not received any maintenance grant from the state government since the last few years.

Without fund it is difficult for us to manage the institution and look after its maintenance, he said.

Later, the AAPSU team also inspected the Kamki Peri Upper Primary School and found that 12 teachers were posted here for teaching 54 students.

Alarmed by the Student-Teacher Ratio, the apex students’ body has questioned authorities responsible for this. Why is it that there is more teachers than students here because as per RTE norms the Student-Teacher Ratio should be 35:1, Dr. Sonam said.

The AAPSU team was also represented by AGS (Protocol) Thomas Jerang, Education Secretary Prem Camdir Tallang, AGS (Admin) Ajit Sidisow and its Documentary cell secretary Lige Sora.
