ITANAGAR, Apr 17: The apex students’ body, All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) today called upon the Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University, Professor Tamo Mibang to review the educational scenario and apprised him of the aspirations of the students. The Union submitted a ten point memorandum to the Vice Chancellor and highlighted the necessary initiatives to be taken by the lone central university of the state.

Taking serious note of the infrastructure development of the University, the union opined that it is lagging behind in overall development as compared to other centraluniversities in the country.

Urging for a proper roadmap for the beautification of the campus, the union also asked the authorities to carryout proper surveillance of construction work of permanent structures. It asserted that many newly constructed buildings have begin to develop cracks and water leakage is a common phenomenon in classrooms.

Also raising concern over the quality of university canteens, the union urged the authorities to dismantle the present main canteen and construct a new one on central university standards with strict monitoring of hygiene.

While appreciating the Arunachal Panorama organised in the university, the AAPSU also opined that community based activities should be minimised as it is not a healthy sign of social development in the state. The Union opined that students should take leading role for changing the present environment. The Union also sought systematization of academic calendar and noted that the delay in the declaration of academic results is grave psychological issue for students which degrade classroom performance.

AAPSU taking note of the road condition also demanded the state government for renovation of road from Bage Tinali to University campus.

The university has many national and internationalvisitors and it gives a wrong reflection, it said.
