ITANAGAR, Mar 25:

The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) while rebutting the repeated Chinese claim over Arunachal and its jab to the visit of His Holiness Dalai Lama to the state has decried it in the strongest terms and called it nonsensical and an act infringing upon the internal matter of a sovereign country.

Asserting that people of Arunachal are more Indian and more patriotic than many of its countrymen, the union said the Chinese claim that Arunachal is part of south Tibet does not hold any ground with the people of the state who own every inch of the land.

‘We negate the very idea of its opposition to the visit of any individual more so in the stature of religious leader like His holiness Dalai Lama who has a vast following in the state and should not be a problem for any other government provided all the laid down formalities and guidelines of Indian government is followed by the visiting individual,’ AAPSU president Hawa Bagang said in a press statement.

The apex students’ body at the same time urged upon the union government to settle the Stapled Visa issue once and for all with it Chinese counterpart. The issue has been one of the long felt demands of the union. Promises of different regimes at the Centre has not bore  fruit till date and Arunachalee citizens intending to visit China are issued Stapled Visa by the Chinese embassy and the Indian government denying individuals to visit China on the said pretext.

‘It’s high time a permanent solution on the contentious issue be reached or else the Arunachalees be allowed to travel with whatever visa given without discrimination at par with other people of the country travelling to China,’ the union said.
