ITANAGAR, Mar 31:Former All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) leader Darasing Tayeng passed away at Bakin Pertin Memorial General Hospital, Pasighat this evening around 6 pm after prolonged illness.

He is survived by his wife Miti Libang, who is a ZPM and a minor daughter.

The condition of late Tayeng, who was suffering from cancer since last two years deteriorated considerably in past few days.

 Popularly known as ‘Dara Bhaiya’, late Tayeng served the union in different capacities as IPR secretary, convener, vice president and speaker for a considerably long time.

His mortal remains will be laid to rest at his native village Motum under Mebo circle on Sunday.

 

Meanwhile, AAPSU has deeply mourned the demise of  Tayeng.

In a condolence message, AAPSU president Hawa Bagang termed his death as great loss to the union and state as a whole.

“Late Tayeng served the union sincerely for a long time. In his death, we have lost a great youth icon of the state”, Bagang said.

“I had a long association with him since my foray in student activism. He was a fine human being and loved by students’ community unconditionally which is a rarity in this time. He had a long stint in AAPSU in different capacity. AAPSU will always remember his contribution to the students’ community of the state”, said AAPSU general secretary Tobom Dai.

The union further prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
