ITANAGAR, Dec 23: An emergency consultative meeting with all the district students’ unions (DSUs) and community-based students organizations of Papum Pare, Changlang, Namsai and Lohit was held here today at NEFA Club under the chairmanship of Tobom Dai, General Secretary, AAPSU.
The meeting was called as a confidence building measure among all the stakeholders with regard to the issue of granting of PRC to six non-tribal communities of Namsai and Changlang districts, Mikirs of Papum Pare and that of the ex-servicemen’s belonging to Gorkha community of Vijaynagar. Representatives from All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU), All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU), All Namsai District Students’ Union (ANDSU), All Tai-Khampti Singpho Students Union (ATKSSU), All Lohit District Students’ Union (ALDSU), All Mishmi Students’ Union (AMSU), All Changlang District Students’ Union (ACDSU), All Tangsa Students’ Union (ATSU) and the Yobin Welfare Society (YWS) attended meet.
After threadbare discussions the meeting authorised AAPSU to incorporate the concerns and opinions in its submission to the JHPC. The meeting also expressed strong opinion against unilateral announcement for granting of PRC to non-Tribals in Namsai and Changlang districts as well as condemned the statements of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister in this regard. Moreover, the meeting was of the opinion that the January 2019 deadline for the submission of JHPC report is not sufficient.
