ITANAGAR, Jun 6:As part of its ongoing visit to various government schools under the capital complex region, a team of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union led by its Vice-President (Pro.) Dr. Tayuk Sonam and Education Secretary Prem Camdir Tallong visited several schools and expressed concern over the dilapidated nature of the institutions.
Not surprisingly, all the schools visited were found to be lying in utter state of neglect. Both in government primary school and GHSS, Ganga, there were shortage of subject teachers, ministerial staffers, lack of boundary demarcation and poor infrastructure, the union said in a release.
It also claimed that the school building constructed under MsDP at GHSS, Ganga was handed over without carrying out any electrical wiring. The entire electrical wiring including bulbs and fans etc were managed and installed by the school authorities from their own sources, it said.
Referring to primary school, Hilltop Colony, the union said that it was situated in landslide prone area and the absence of boundary fencing around the school was posing danger for students.
Later when the team visited the recently upgraded government high school at Jote, they were informed by the principal & SMC chairman that due to lack of subject teachers particularly in Maths & Science, the students of the school were suffering.
‘Out of the total 26 students who had appeared in the board exams this year from the school, only 2 managed to pass while 16 got compartment and others had failed. It is pertinent to note that the students had failed or got compartment in subjects where there were no teachers,’ the union reiterated.
