ITANAGAR, Jun 5: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has hailed the state government’s decision to hand over the May 21 carnage case which took lives of Tirong Aboh and ten others to the National Investigation Agency and the decision to absorb the next kith & kin of all the victims in government jobs and ex gratia of twenty lakhs each.
In a press release issued today, AAPSU besides welcoming the above decisions has also called upon the state government to address the crux of the problem that has led to the deteriorating law and order situation in entire TLC (Tirap, Changlang & Longding) region.
The pre-1997 TLC region was known for its prosperity in all aspects but today insurgency, brought in by some politicians with vested interests has subdued everything, the release said. Rampant killings, extortions, intimidations etc. have become order of the day and these insurgent groups and underground elements have been running parallel government with monthly ‘taxation’ even from state & central government employees, AAPSU alleged.
Demanding immediate expulsion of all insurgent groups and underground elements operating in TLC region, AAPSU along with its federating units i.e. all District Students’ Union (DSU), University Students’ Union, College Students’ Union, Branch Students’ Union in the state and across the country shall be carrying out sit-in protests in their respective jurisdictions on June 8 next. Protests will be intensified and the Union shall also move the Central Home Ministry regarding the same, the release read. AAPSU Press Release
